Padu Palmerio portrait

Padu Palmerio is a cinematographer with experience in documentaries, fiction, and commercials. His international career has taken him to film in more than 40 countries — including Congo, Kenya, Bangladesh, China, Vietnam, and Bosnia — with work broadcast on channels such as Discovery, Nat Geo, Channel 4, and TV Globo.

In fiction, his recent work has focused on Latin American productions. He was director of photography of the feature film Sleepwalk (Mexico, in post-production), directed by Ricardo Silva; and Invunche – The Monster Within (Chile/USA, 2026, in post-production), directed by Rodrigo Susarte. He also shot the short films Chicken [2024, Paraguay/Spain], directed by Ana Arza, and Sweet Water [2023, Brazil], directed by Antonio Miano, among others.

In documentary, he was the cinematographer of New Africa, a series filmed entirely across 26 African countries. His work on Faceless Women, about women attacked with acid in Pakistan, was nominated for the Herzog Journalism Award. He also received a SAFTA (South Africa) nomination for the cinematography of No Escape: SA Prisoners in Brazil. He accompanied field operations with IBAMA and the Military Police, and worked on series for Vice Brasil and Vice US.

He was nominated for the ABC Award for Cinematography and won the Best Cinematography award at the Saint Petersburg International Festival. He also works as a cinematographer in commercials for production companies such as MyMama, Stink, Mutato, and Sentimental, among others.
